BHP supports The CoRE Learning Foundation and Gamification

BHP Australia | June 2021

"As a leading global resources company, BHP is proud to partner with the CoRE Learning Foundation and the Minerals Council of Australia to help bring this innovative gamification initiative into Australian schools.

Incorporating resource-focused educational games into the Australian school curriculum will help to ignite and foster an interest in STEM from an early age and will also give students a hands-on insight into the world of mining. But most importantly, it will aid students to develop the skills and capabilities that will be most in demand in coming years so they can equip themselves for their future careers more effectively.

The future of work within the resources industry will be less focused on specific jobs and more so on well- rounded skill sets. We anticipate that our future workers will spend far more time on job tasks requiring science, maths and technology than today. Linear careers will also be far less common and those who can hone the increasingly important and transferrable skills of critical thinking, creativity, cultural awareness, collaboration and problem-solving, will be able to transition between almost boundless career pathways within our sector and more broadly."
