The WA School of Mines Alumni (WASMA) has returned as an Ochre (in-kind) sponsor of the CoRE Learning Foundation. With this renewed partnership, we’re supporting more than just student learning; we’re helping to strengthen the entire STEM pipeline.

Together, we’re building pathways from Primary school curiosity to Secondary understanding, through to tertiary-level expertise and long-term careers in the resources sector.

The CoRE Learning Model gives young people real-world exposure to the STEM skills, mindsets, and opportunities that will shape their futures in the resources industry. WASMA helps carry that momentum into university and beyond, connecting students with a thriving alumni network, career guidance, and professional support.

Building the Pathway from CoRE to Curtin to Career

Just ask Ryan, who exemplifies the power of this seamless journey.

After graduating from Kent Street Senior High School’s CoRE Program in 2018, Ryan went on to study geology at the WA School of Mines -Curtin University, graduating in 2021. He is now working as a mine geologist at Genesis Minerals, an opportunity made possible by early exposure to industry through CoRE and ongoing support from the WASMA community.

Ryan’s path reflects what’s possible when schools, universities and industry align: students become confident, job-ready professionals with the connections and capability to make an immediate impact.
