BHP Renews Sponsorship to Empower CoRE Students

We are thrilled to announce that BHP will continue to support the CoRE Learning Foundation as an Eucalyptus sponsor. This renewed partnership will enable us to empower students through the CoRE Learning Model and Gamifying Earth Science initiative at schools like Baler Primary School in Port Hedland.

Supporting STEM Education

BHP's ongoing support will help us to provide innovative STEM education initiatives in places like Baler Primary School where we work with 300 students and 10 educators. Through our partnership, we are committed to cultivating a love of learning and inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals.

A Recent Success: The Cemetery Beach Field Trip

One of the highlights of our recent collaboration was the Year 3/4 Baler students' field trip to Cemetery Beach. This excursion (we don't do excursions in CoRE we do field trips) provided students with a unique opportunity to understand the structure and purpose of the SpoilBank in the Port Hedland Harbour. By exploring this real-world example, students were able to connect their classroom learning to the local environment.

Building a Pipeline for Future Resource Professionals

Kerry Turnock, Head of Resource Engineering Excellence at BHP, said, "STEM capability, including the Earth Sciences, is critical to underpinning the resource sector. CoRE Learning Foundation is a pioneering solution addressing the deficiency in Earth Sciences education for primary and secondary students. By gamifying earth sciences learning, we can together create a future pipeline for tertiary educated resource professionals."

We are grateful for BHP's continued support and commitment to empowering students in Port Hedland. Together, we are making a positive impact on the future of STEM education and preparing students for successful careers in the resource industry.
