We are excited to announce that Pantoro, a WA-based gold producer, has joined CoRE Learning as a Garnet sponsor. This partnership will deliver immersive STEM education to Norseman students, bringing real-world mining industry experiences to the forefront. This collaboration aims to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals by providing hands-on learning opportunities while benefiting the local community.
A STEM Learning Partnership That Matters
Pantoro’s involvement goes beyond financial support - it's a commitment to nurturing future talent and building a stronger workforce for the mining industry. The Norseman Gold Project is a historically significant goldfield in Western Australia. It spans over 1,000 km² and is 100% owned by Pantoro. The Company is ramping up production, targeting 100,000 ounces in FY25 with a pathway to 200,000 ounces in the coming years and recently announced a growth drilling program to extend the mine life. This rich and expansive project serves as an exceptional educational resource for CoRE students.
In addition to the interactive games from the Gamifying Earth Science (GES) initiative that students already have access to, through this partnership, students will engage in real-world learning experiences that connect classroom lessons to practical industry applications. These experiences will include site visits to the Norseman Gold Project, where students can receive insights into daily operations.
Creating STEM Career Pathways for the Local Community
The collaboration between Pantoro and CoRE Learning is about more than just education. By exposing young people to career opportunities in mining, Pantoro hopes to inspire local talent to pursue careers in the resources industry. The partnership aligns with Pantoro’s strategy to support the community by building a skilled, local workforce and contributing to the region’s economic success.
As students gain practical experience and graduate with industry-relevant skills, they are more likely to find employment locally, reducing the need for external recruitment and boosting the regional economy.
Working with Pantoro to provide students with on-site experiences will also generate greater interest in mining careers among young people in the community. By highlighting the real-world applications of earth sciences, the partnership will help us inspire young learners in Norseman and show them the positive role the local resources industry plays in both economic development and environmental sustainability.
Geoscience Education Building Pathways to the Future
Pantoro’s involvement will help us give students hands-on experience in mining operations, developing a deeper understanding of STEM as it applies to real-world careers.
"Pantoro is pleased to partner with CoRE to deliver relevant STEM education to students in Norseman and supporting the teaching staff at Norseman District High School. The great work that CoRE delivers in regional schools across the state is directly applicable to opportunities in the mining industry. Pantoro values the Norseman community, and we look forward to giving students real on-site experiences to grow their interest in mining and set them on the path to becoming future employees." -Paul Cmrlec, Managing Director.
CoRE gives young learners the opportunity to learn about their local industry, such as the logistics of mining, ore extraction and resource processing, along with gaining insights into career paths in mining engineering, environmental science, and geology. Our partnership with Pantoro will help us give access to these experiences to more students, setting them on a path to becoming work-ready graduates with the skills to contribute meaningfully to the resources sector.
Developing 21st Century Skills
The positive effects of this partnership extend well beyond the classroom. As students become more involved in the resources industry, the Norseman community can expect to see a direct benefit in terms of local job creation. By showing students what Norseman has to offer them, CoRE is encouraging students to create a career within their local community, helping retain local talent and boosting economic stability in the region.
Pantoro’s role as a major employer and contributor to Norseman’s economy is set to strengthen as more young people enter the workforce with direct experience in mining. This partnership serves as a blueprint for sustainable community growth, helping ensure that education and industry work hand-in-hand to build long-term development.
Pantoro and CoRE Changing Earth Science Education
CoRE’s mission is to inspire and prepare students for careers in STEM. By bridging the gap between education and industry, Pantoro and CoRE Learning are offering students a clear path to success in fields like mining, geology, and engineering.
For both students and educators, this partnership provides a unique opportunity to connect theory with practice, giving young people the skills they need to thrive in an evolving job market. Together CoRE Learning will continue to deliver on our promise of transforming STEM education for regional schools and providing students with invaluable industry exposure.
